But we aren't co-workers and I've never gone on the radio and suggested having a threesome with you, so it's probably fine. |

Your loss. |

JR - I assume Jeremy Roenick, but possibly JR Ewing? Cause I can see JR Ewing and Brian Burke getting along over burbon branches at the Cattlemen's Club. Especially back when there was a no good Barnes playing for Dallas to complain about. |

How crazy would it be if the Leafs missed the playoffs and the Islanders made it?? With the Leafs having the best team in the NHL, and the Islanders having one of the worst. That could never happen, huh James? If it did, I'm sure it's just bad luck. |

Posts like this drive me nuts. It's as if you're being intentionally dumb. You know that there is a salary cap. You know that goalies make an outsized difference in outcomes in games. You know that results in a league with full parity are almost random. You know luck and injuries are bigger factors than skill until the sample size is massive.
The Islanders do not feature the seven to ten first line players the Leafs have. Maybe they have two or three first liners.
So yes, if the Islanders finish ahead of the Leafs it is 100% because of luck. |

Yes, because no one can predict what goalies will be good from year to year. Consensus is Andersen is better than either of the Long Island goalies, but he's not doing as well. |

Could it possibly be the team in front of the goalie? What a world it would be: where sound coaching and defence actually effect a goalies ability to save pucks. Lucky goalies in long island! |

See, what you have to understand is that the 141 games between last season and so far this season is simply too small a sample size. Every team will eventually regress to the mean. You have to imagine eventually the Islanders goalies will fall from their lofty highs of *checks NHL stats* 0.918 and 0.916 SV%.
And as for the Islanders being a good team. Pfft. Any team can ride a hot goalie (or three) over a short span like 141 games. Duh. I mean. Pfft. Duh. The team means nothing. |

the isles play with horsehoes stuffed up their asses. they're just lucky to have average save percentages from their goalies. |

I know it sounds crazy, but if this were actually true predicting which goalies will be good from year to year would be possible, and it isn't. |

anticipating that you will get above average save % based on playing a defensive system that limits good scoring chances.
this sounds crazier than nancy pelosi 3 hours past her bedtime. |
